Social, Economic and Political Organisation of Kenyan Societies in the 19th C

Social organization of the Bantu
-Almost all the Bantu communities were organized in clans made up of people with common descent.
-All the Bantu communities practiced circumcision. Among the Abagusii and Agikuyu, both boys and girls were circumcised.
-Circumcision marked an entry into an age set whose functions included defending the community from external attacks, building huts and advising junior age-sets on how to raid. -All the Bantu communities believed in the existence of a supernatural power that controlled their destiny.
