MAKE ROOM FOR A LEARNING ROUTINE

Online learning in Kenya: a parent’s guide

Understand how live online learning works, prepare your learner’s device and choose a routine that is practical for your family in Kenya.

A useful online lesson begins before the camera turns on.

Online learning can mean recorded videos, self-study resources or live teaching. TutorKE focuses on live tuition: a tutor and learners meet at a scheduled time, ask questions and work through a subject together. Choose that format when conversation and guided practice matter.

Identify a realistic time and a place with fewer distractions. A charged laptop or tablet can make reading shared material easier; use the local camera and sound check to test your equipment. Live video uses data, and the amount depends on the connection and classroom activity.

Agree a small goal each week. Homework, tutor comments and your learner’s explanation of a topic can help you see where more practice is needed. TutorKE does not promise a particular grade or examination result.

Before the lesson

Confirm the subject, grade and EAT timetable. Check sound, camera and connection, then gather an exercise book and homework.

During live teaching

Join from the booked lesson in your account. Ask questions and tell the tutor when an explanation needs repeating.

After the lesson

Review feedback, allow time for practice and keep booking or technical questions in platform support channels.

A few useful answers.

Is live tuition the same as a recorded course?

Live tuition has scheduled sessions with a tutor. A recorded course is normally watched at a time you choose. Check your family’s schedule before reserving a live class.

What if our connection is unreliable?

Try the device check, close unnecessary downloads and use a quieter connection. Follow the lesson troubleshooting guide and contact support if the classroom fails. A failed connection does not automatically qualify for a refund.

Can parents follow progress?

Parents can see their family’s timetable, lesson discussions, homework and tutor feedback. Ask the tutor for clear, practical next steps.

What time zone does TutorKE use?

Lesson times are shown in East Africa Time, EAT (UTC+3), for families and tutors in Kenya.
