Problems facing New York City.
(i) Unemployment and under employment.
- Most of the immigrants are unskilled making them to be unemployed or under employed.
(ii) Traffic congestion during rush hours.
- For instance over 800,000 motorists enter the city daily causing massive traffic shart-ups in the mornings and evenings.
(iii) Pollution of the air, water and sound pollution.
- This is due to heavy industrial concentrations and exhumes from numerous motor vehicles
(iv) Inadequate housing facilities leading to development of slums or ghettos e.g. Harlem, Bronix and Borulia.
(v) High crime rates occasioned unemployment and substance abuse.
(vi) Inadequate space for expansion because the city is basically located in the islands.
