Stimulants
-These are substances or drugs which increase the activity of the central nervous system.
-Most common examples of stimulants are tobacco, caffeine, which is found in coffee, tea, carbonated drinks like coca cola and other beverages, khat
(miraa) and medical preparation drugs.
-Tobacco is usually taken in the form of cigarettes or snuff. Tobacco contains substances that are harmful to the body such as:
-Nicotine which is responsible for making a person addicted to smoking.
-Carbon monoxide which is inhaled during smoking and
damages the arteries, heart, and lungs.
-Tar, the black substance left in the lungs after smoking. This can cause cancer of the throat, heart and lungs.
