Answer Text:
Ascension of Jesus (Luke 24:50-53)
Ascension is derived from the word “Ascend” which means going up.
After commissioning his disciples, he led them to Bethany, then Jesus raised his hands, blessed his disciples, left them and went up to heaven.
Raising up of hands suggests blessing.
The disciples returned from witnessing Jesus’ ascension with great joy.
They were in great joy because their blindness and disbelief had been overcome.
Also the redemption of humankind had been accomplished.
