Traditional African and Christian response to unfaithfulness as a family problem:

untold suffering to all members of the family.
-Unfaithfulness is one of the causes of family breakages today.
- Unfaithfulness in traditional African communities is discouraged.
- Those who are known to be unfaithful are defamed through songs or isolated from communal gatherings and activities.
-Adultery on the part of the woman is enough ground for divorce.
- In some communities heavy punishment is imposed on the adulterous man. For example, he may be asked to pay a heavy fine in form of animals.
- The culprit goes through various rituals and offers sacrifices in order to be cleansed.
-Christianity does not condone unfaithfulness.
-The Bible teaches that married couples are expected to remain faithful to each other for the rest of their lives.
- It teaches against adultery, which is forbidden in the ten commandments: “You shall not commit adultery”.
- The church advocates for a monogamous marriage in order for the man to give individual love and attention to his wife and children.
