The role of the church and government in curbing the rise of rape cases in Kenya
(i) Churches in Kenya have launched the Tamar campaign in order to contribute to prevention of rape crimes. This is an initiative launched in Kenya in 2005 by fellowship of Christian
councils to address and end sexual violence.
(ii) The government has well-detailed punishment for rapists as a way of minimizing rape cases.
(iii) There are organizations that promote the dignity of women and girls e.g Coalition of Violence against Women (COVAW)
that creates awareness on the evil of rape and its effects on the survivor and entire society.
(iv) Some leaders have provided education through seminars on the importance of respecting women and girls.
(v) The church through leaders have provided
protective measures women should take against being raped.
