Answer Text:
Perseverance/persistence as a Christian value that enhances a just society:
Perseverance is a Christian virtue and it is related to the term persistence. To persevere is to show determination and endurance in pursuing a good goal. While to persevere is a positive act, persistence can have a negative meaning
especially when one continues to engage in a behavior which is negative. A person who perseveres does not give up no matter how challenging a situation or a task may be. Other people show perseverance in relationships such as in marriage and friendships. Parents also show perseverance in bringing up their children by insisting
that they work hard and learn good moral values. The Old Testament gives examples of people who were persistent. For example, Abraham and the prophets showed persistence in their enduring faith and trust in God. Moses was persistent in his leadership of the Israelites during the Exodus and did not give up even when they complained
and grumbled. Jesus Christ was persistent in his mission and persevered suffering to the point of dying on the cross. Jesus also emphasized on the importance of persistence or perseverance in prayer when he told the parable of the unjust judge and the widow. Christians should exhibit this moral value by being persistent in their faith in Jesus Christ.
