Human reasoning and experience as a source of Christian ethics:
When we are confronted with situations, we are required to make moral decisions relying on internal and external guides.
(i) Internal guides
These are internal thoughts that guide us when making decisions and taking actions.
They comprise of conscience, knowledge or free will, feelings and intuition.
(ii) Conscience
This is when mind is making practical judgement on human actions as being good or bad. Although human beings have conscience, it needs to be developed
through guidance to function properly.
(iii) Knowledge and free will
This is another internal guide in making moral decisions. A normal person has the ability to assess the morality of situation using his/her own reasoning and knowledge.
(iv) Intuition
Every normal person with sound mind has an inner feeling or insight to make decisions that require immediate response. It is gained naturally through experience.
(v) Feelings
Human feelings can make individuals to make good or
bad decisions. This can be dangerous in matters of marriage, personal life and friendship.
