Mixed Farming
- Growing crops and rearing animals on the same farm.
Characteristics
a) Crops are grown and animals reared on the same farm.
b) Portion of land is reserved for animal pasture.
c) Farms are moderate in size. d) Crop residue is used for fodder.
e) Manure from animals is used to fertilise the soil.

Advantages
a) When crop fails or prices fluctuate the farmer can depend on livestock and vice versa.
b) The farmer gets income continually.
c) Income is larger.
d) Farmer is busy throughout the year.
e) Using crop residue as fodder saves money for buying it.
f) Using manure from animals ensures sustained crop production and also saves money that would be used to buy manure.
